Meet the Artist
Sunday, July 14
10 am – 12 pm
Come and enjoy the
beautiful paintings of Bob Joachim. Enjoy a cup of coffee and conversation
with the artist.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Bob Joachim came to art late in
life. After a career as an ordained Lutheran minister and a long career in
parole work for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, he retired to life as an
artist. Having studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA), as well
as receiving instruction from "PAFA" graduate, Janet McShain, and
local artist, Tom Steigerwald, he has developed his skills with various
mediums. He also was a founding member of the Manayunk Artist Co-Op.
As a resident of Chestnut Hill, he exhibits locally and practices his
art out of a studio in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia.
"My paintings demonstrate my interest in creating natural landscapes
that make us pause from our business and reflect on our living. Some of them
suggest the interaction between people and their environment or imply potential
human activity.
Also my work represents visual memories of the places I have traveled
to as well as the joy of painting in the "plein air".
Generally, I see my work as moving towards abstraction of what I
observe and ponder, thereby becoming more personal and conceptual. For me art
like life is a magical process of problem solving and discovery."
