Meet local artist Bob Joachim!

Meet the Artist

Sunday, July 14
10 am – 12 pm

Come and enjoy the beautiful paintings of Bob Joachim.  Enjoy a cup of coffee and conversation with the artist.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Bob Joachim came to art late in life. After a career as an ordained Lutheran minister and a long career in parole work for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, he retired to life as an artist. Having studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA), as well as receiving instruction from "PAFA" graduate, Janet McShain, and local artist, Tom Steigerwald, he has developed his skills with various mediums. He also was a founding member of the Manayunk Artist Co-Op.
As a resident of Chestnut Hill, he exhibits locally and practices his art out of a studio in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia.
"My paintings demonstrate my interest in creating natural landscapes that make us pause from our business and reflect on our living. Some of them suggest the interaction between people and their environment or imply potential human activity.
Also my work represents visual memories of the places I have traveled to as well as the joy of painting in the "plein air".
Generally, I see my work as moving towards abstraction of what I observe and ponder, thereby becoming more personal and conceptual. For me art like life is a magical process of problem solving and discovery."

Indigo Nature Arts Summer Camp @ the cedars house cafe!

indigo nature arts

Indigo Nature Arts has a couple of spaces open for 7 year old children for the weeks of July 8-12 and August 5-9. This is a nature and art based camp in the Wissahickon, held at the Cedars House on Forbidden Drive. An outdoor playspace will offer a bamboo play fort that the children can rebuild, a tepee made from tree branches and a cozy outdoor rest canopy. We explore the Wissahickon creek nearby, walk the newly built hiking trails in the Andorra hills and watch for birds of prey in the restored meadow. Each week offers a craft/art projects with quality materials. This is a unique opportunity for the child who likes a small group and enjoys working with their hands and exploring in nature. For more information you can check out www.indigonaturearts.com, or email Kim directly at indigonaturearts@gmail.com.
